Dallas Cowboys Outreach

On Sunday a group of about 30 of us went out to Arlington during the Dallas Cowboys game. We arrived in the middle of the 3rd quarter. We handed out tracts and had some great one on one conversations with people. We also set up and open air preached outside the east exit of the stadium. As the game got closer to ending, more and more people left. As an aside, I have honestly never understood coming to a game to leave early. So, I was able to use that as an opening to ask people “why are you leaving early?” The answers ranged from everything from not wanting to deal with traffic, getting home to late, or “already being in enough trouble” from a couple of guys who had left a wife home with two 4 month old twins and the others pregnant wife with a two year old!

In each case, these conversations lead to a great opportunity to share the Gospel.

The game went to overtime, so that prolonged the trickle of people coming out of the stadium. When the Cowboys finally won it, there was a steady stream of people out of the stadium. In all we handed out around 7,000 Gospel tracts, had countless one on one conversations and read the Bible and preached in the open air for more than 90 minutes!

The following update was added on November 27, 2012:

The students in the GFA School of Discipleship provided me with the following comments about the outreach:

It was evident that the Lord was in charge, especially of the timing of when people left the event. He brought them right to us–I’ve never handed out so many tracts before! -Jenny-

It was very humbling to see all the people and having the privilege to hand out Gospel tracts. -Miles-

The outreach went differently than I expected. Good, but different. In the process of handing out gospel tracts to the taxi drivers we started a conversation with a Muslim man. A few minutes later another taxi driver (who was an Arab Christian) came up to us with the gospel tract he had received. He talked to us for a bit and then he and the Muslim man arguing. I tried to interject a couple times, but finally decided to leave them be. I hope that the things we shared with the Muslim man will stick with him. -Brenda-

It was such a nice day to go out and pass out Gospel tracts. One of the first people that we ran into was a drunk man cheering for the Cowboy’s. I asked him if he “got one of these” and “could you take our picture?” It was interesting. I’m glad that the Cowboys won.

I think that it was a great idea for us to be their while everyone was leaving the game. We were in a prime spot to pass out tracts and our team did great! We were courteous and could not keep up with as many people who were receiving the tracts. Also, had one person encourage us and said “keep up the good work!”

It was a great time especially knowing that many “seeds” and MANY people were given the chance to read about spiritual things. Hopefully this topic was brought up as we heard them read them out load to their friends. Praying that they will coming to a saving knowledge of the Gospel. It was fun. -Tony-

It was great to see people were thankful to receive the tracts, even when they knew what it was about. It was the most joyful time I’ve had sharing the gospel. -Emily-

It was beautiful to see the Lord drawing people to Himself. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had! -Nikki-

God provided. He did great things. He set up the situation perfectly for many to receive the good news. I had a great time. The group I was with gave out hundreds of tracts and had many meaningful conversations. May God bring the increase! -Andy-

Ten days after the outreach, I received an email from a Sunday School teacher who received one of the tracts at the game asking how to obtain more of the Are You A Good Person tracts that were being distributed. I have emailed her back with how to order them. Very encouraging! Only God knows what other fruit has come from this outreach.
