Who gave you the authority

I got this (20 second) message on our ministry voice mail this afternoon: Voice Message

To answer the man’s question: Jesus did!

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

So unless we are on private property, then we are authorized to hand out tracts!

Tract Rack

Last year I had the privilege to speak at and present the Basic Evangelism Training Seminar at Lytle United Methodist Church. Over the weekend I received a text from one of the members with a picture of their new tract rack! I asked if I could share this because I feel like this is something that other churches could do as well.

All of the tracts from the Bezeugen Tract Club are available for purchase from One Million Tracts to stock your tract rack.

Creative Tract Ideas

We ran a contest on our Facebook page recently asking for creative ways that people have handed out Gospel tracts. We had over 32 entries! The entries were presented to the attendees of our monthly prayer meeting and the top three each received a box of tracts as a prize. The top three ideas received were:

  1. Jeffery who stated that he “un-rolled TP in restrooms and rolled tracts in the roll. When someone pulls the TP out comes a tract.”
  2. Joanne said “at clothing stores. I have left them in the pockets of jeans.” I must note, that since the contest has ended, I’ve done this while browsing in a store with my wife!
  3. Kathy said that they “set up a Lemonade stand in town and gave tracts and books away”. What a great idea. And everyone could do this. You could probably even get your kids to give out the tracts and lemonade. Why not set one up in front of your house or at the local park?

Many thanks to all who participated in the contest. Be sure to join our Facebook Group so that you get even more ideas on how to hand out tracts and then you can join in the contest the next time!

To receive 30 FREE Gospel tracts per month so that you can hand one our each day “As You Go” please enroll online.

3rd Annual Texas Rangers opening weekend outreach

This Saturday, April 6th, marks the 3rd annual Texas Rangers opening weekend outreach. The game starts at 3:05 PM.  We plan to leave Carrollton at noon and drive to Arlington which should put us at the stadium by 1PM and give us two hours of witnessing before the game starts. We will set our main location at the SE corner of the stadium which is the corner of Randol Mill and Stadium Drive. You may use the map below to find the location and plot your driving directions.

I suggest parking somewhere along Randol Mill perhaps as far east as Six Flag Dr. On that corner there is usually some good parking often including a shuttle to the stadium. Otherwise the walk is not that far. You can probably park closer, but be prepared to pay more for parking as you get closer.

For more information, please contact Carl.

If you can not make it then please be in prayer for us. We have over 7500 baseball trivia tracts (5000 Rangers and 2500+ MLB) as well as other tracts to distribute.

The Awesome Atheist at the Soccer Game

Last night I had the privilege to join students from the Gospel For Asia School of Discipleship at an outreach at the FC Dallas game in Frisco, TX.  We handed out hundreds of tracts and were able to share the Gospel one on one with a number of people.

This afternoon, I received a voice message on our ministry phone number from someone who had been at the game. She introduces herself as “an awesome athiest”. Have a listen to her message here:

Isn’t it interesting that she seems to think that we are wasting our lives by telling people about Jesus. At the same time she has no problem with her husband raising her child in the Jewish faith. If she is right and there is no God, then wouldn’t raising your child in the Jewish faith also be a waste of time?

I hear this argument from time to time: that we are wasting out time. I respond by asking the person “what is the worst that can happen?”

If I am wrong and there is no God, then I have spent my life living by a good moral standard, talking to people and getting to know them. When I die, I’d end up in the ground.

But, if they are wrong and I am right, then at the end of their life they will face God, be judged guilty for their sin and then spend eternity in Hell as a punishment. Talk about a wasted life!

I am glad that she called. It shows that the tracts are effective. People read them. They stir something inside of them. Probably the kid is troubled by it because his conscience is speaking to him condemning him. Pray for this child and his parents that they will all be saved!

On another note, the GFA students also went to the Allen American’s and Dallas Stars

hockey games. One of them handed one of our tract club members a Hoppy Easter tract.  This picture was posted by that tract club member onto my Facebook wall. She was encouraged to receive it and has told me that she’d like to join us in future outreaches. So that was an encouraging end to the day of witnessing!

Door to Door 101

Some people have asked us for some additional training on how we do door to door evangelism. We have decided that it would be good to add a few BLOG entries with some videos which not only describe how we do it, but also show what we do.  In this video, Todd explains how to knock on the door, ring the doorbell and leave a door hanger.

While we made this video to seem ultra simplistic, the point is that it is really about the obedience to go and share the Gospel. It is really not difficult to knock on a door or ring a door bell and then hang a door hanger if the person does not answer.

Here is another example of hanging the door hanger on the door:

Next time, we will include some more information on what conversation takes place at the door if the person does answer!

Christmas Tract idea

I had an encouraging note from one of our tract club members. She sent me the two images below with this note (and permission to share):

Hey there! I was at your seminar recently and just thought I would share what I did this Christmas after being inspired by your words. I photographed my daughter and then created these tract-like Christmas cards that we both sent out to family and friends as well as left all over town. I thought her cute face would at least cause people to read it. Lol I had several inquiries and questions regarding the gospel that followed from unbelieving friends. Thanks again for taking the time to speak with us. It was great meeting you and your wife  God bless you and all that you guys do!

To God be the Glory! Perhaps this will inspire others to do the same! Thanks for the idea and letting us share it!

First Thursday Prayer for March Logistics

Thursday, March 7th is the first Thursday of the month. We will have our monthly prayer meeting at Carrollton City Hall and at HOBI International in Dallas. If you do not live near one of our locations, then please prayerfully consider starting a prayer meeting at your City Hall on the first Thursday of each month. We gather to pray using the ACTS model of prayer. This months suggested verses are:

  • Adoration: Psalm 147:1-6
  • Confession: Job 42:1-6
  • Thanksgiving: Colossians 1:12-14
  • Supplication: Colossians 4:2-6

We have decided that this year, we will pray for our nation EVERY Thursday. While we will only gather at City Hall on the First Thursday of each month, we would encourage prayer for our nation every Thursday. A guide for Thursday prayer is here.
