The First Thursday of April marked two years that we have been gathering for prayer
once a month for our Nation, Leaders and revival. We have two groups. One in Carrollton at City Hall. And one in Dallas at HOBI International. The First Thursday monthly prayer meeting was launched from the National Day of Prayer in Carrollton, TX in May 2010. As that prayer meeting was concluding a couple of us asked each other “why do we only do this once a year?” We chatted among ourselves and decided on the spot that there was no reason not to do this more than once a year. So we started meeting the First Thursday of each month for prayer. Next Thursday, May 3rd, marks the 2nd anniversary of that National Day of Prayer meeting that kicked this off.
This prayer meeting will use the ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) model of prayer. We have four pastors from the community coming to share a word with us on each of these four areas and lead us in prayer.
In addition, we are pleased to be able to start the meeting with special recognition. You are invited to join us. Join us on May 3rd. Join us each month on the First Thursday of each month. In Carrollton, we meet from noon to 12:30 the First Thursday of each month at the flag poles in front of City Hall (NE corner of Josey and Jackson).
For more information see the Pray, Learn, Go site or the First Thursday page.
You can RSVP for the prayer meeting on our Facebook event.
Here is Eldon’s report from Toronto of the outreach at the Blue Jays game:
John 4:35 – 38, states ….”Behold I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest. And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: One sows and another reaps. I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered their labors.”What a joy it was share the gospel one on one with many entering the Blue Jay Game!! Since it was an afternoon game and many that were asked, from our area(Niagara region) were working I went alone. Did not feel one bit alone, as the Lord always goes ahead and had the wonderful opportunity of handing out between 400 – 500 tracts. The other amazing thing that I ran into, was two people from one church in Toronto area were handing out tracts, as well as 3 from North of Toronto doing likewise. They were unfamiliar faces to me, even though I pastored in Toronto for 20 plus years. We give Him the praise and glory for all that received the gospel that day.Let us always remember that many will sow, and when we have the privilege of reaping, we have entered the labors of that have gone before us. To Him be the glory.Trust that each one of us will continue to be faithful servants of our Lord Jesus Christ, whether it be at an event such as planned, or in our daily encounter with people.Go Fishing, until the nets are full,Eldon
Here is the MLB 2012 Outreach report from Jennifer:
We were at PNC Park for the Baseball game, in Pittsburgh. There were two of us. Beth handed out tracts while I open air preached. When open air preaching I give out stuffed animalsto everyone that will take the good perston test. It was only about 20 seconds to a minute between each person that I took through the the good person test each time. I had several Christians come and thank me for sharing the Gospel. The one guy I witnessed to was in his early 20’s and afterward his parents came over and thanked me for sharing with their son. They were so grateful. We had a great time sharing the Gospel and did not have any negative encounters. The weather was beautiful and we were both blessed by the event.
Thank You for including me.
It is interesting how God uses tracts. I’ve had occasions where I hand a tract to someone and they say “someone just gave me one of these yesterday.” This afternoon I got an email from a tract club member who had this interesting story of how a tract crossed a mans path…
One week I was in jail for ministry to the inmates and I was discussing some of the ways people think that they are going to heaven. I showed them the ridiculous ticket to heaven card I got from the crystal cathedral and explained that it was powerless to insure eternal life. Conversely I brought out the get out of hell tract to further illustrate, when one of the inmates exclaimed I have one of those. I asked where he had obtained it thinking there very well may be a fellow Bezeugen in Montana. He explained that he didn’t exactly have it but his father did and had tried to use it at his bail hearing with dismal results. I asked if he recalled where they had gotten it and he said they found it in a 12 pack of beer. They now have it proudly displayed on their refrigerator. Only god knows what the true impact is from these tracts. The one thing we know for sure is that anyone that receives them can not claim ignorance of the gospel.
A lot has been happening with Bezeugen Ministries since our last update. I thought it would be good to capture some of the highlights.
We are excited about what the Lord has in store as we continue to seek to serve and glorify him. This summer we are planing to take a trip to Missouri and Illinois to do some teaching. We will continue to seek opportunities to do monthly outreaches at local sporting events. Above all, we will continue seeking to share the Gospel and encourage you to do it “as you go”.
On Saturday, April 7th, as part of the Major League Baseball outreach, we took a group of over 40 people to the Texas Rangers game to share the Gospel. We were blessed to have a group of students from the Gospel for Asia School of Discipleship join us.
We divided the group into five and split up around the stadium. Each group was able to preach the Gospel open air, hand out tracts and talk to people one on one. We had three tracts for the outreach: a Back to back american League Champion bookmark featuring the Rangers home schedule, a Rangers trivia tract and a generic baseball trivia tract. With 5,000 of each of these tracts (15,000 of them in all) we optimistically thought “what if we were able to hand them all out.” The stadium holds over 45,000 people so that would be about 1 in 3 people. Even though we did not think we could hand out that many tracts, we brought a couple thousand extra tracts too!
We arrived at the game about two hours before the game started. We set up on each corner of the stadium. As people walked to the stadium they were greeted by members of our team and received tracts and heard the Gospel preached.
With any event like this it is important to pray. We prayed with members of the whole nation wide outreach three days before. We prayed before we drove to the stadium. And we had people praying for us while we were there. The outreach went extremely smooth. One security guard challenged the use of the bookmark tract. He called me telling me we could not solicit and asking who gave permission to use it. I told him what corner I was at and said if we wanted to discuss it he was welcome to come talk to me. I then asked a couple people to pray. By the time he arrived and asked if I was Carl, I said yes. He said that he had talked to his supervisor and found there was no issue.
We continued handing out tracts until the game started. Group by gruop we ran out of the baseball tracts. We pulled out the other tracts we had brought. As the crowds dwindled, we wrapped up. We realized that we had handed out over 15,000 Gospel tracts. That means that nearly 1 in 3 people received a Gospel tract from us.
Then as a group we walked back to the cars stopping at Subway for dinner and fellowship.
Greg Marlin sent me this note about their outreach at the Springfield Cardinals exhibition
game against the World Champs!
Check out the front page of the News-Leader today and read the first paragraph. We had a good day at the ball park. There was a large standing crowd outside the stadium before the gates opened. Bruce and myself preached to them and I think the message was well received. Some people were certainly listening. I think overall we gave out around 1,200 tracts with 6 people helping. Steve is working on editing and posting a video that I took of Bruce stoplight preaching with his cross as the crowds walked by with us handing tracts to them. During this stoplight preaching time we had one interesting young Jewish woman walk past us while cursing at us and the cross then saying the “F” word about Jesus. I know Nick Smith was able to get into a good witnessing conversation while standing by the smokers area outside the stadium.Let’s continue to pray for all the seed that was sown yesterday and the many more soon to come MLB outreaches across the country.
