Then it was off to VBS on the road Day Three. I got to share the Gospel with a couple people including handing out a Car Crash tract to one of the men in the parking lot. I asked if he knew the good news. He said no. So I shared the Gospel with him.

Day 150722: At the Mall

I met a friend for lunch at the mall. Several workers were handing out samples. I exchanged them for tracts. I ordered lunch and then gave the cashier a Create to Do tract.

After lunch we walked around the mall a little bit and struck up some conversations with people.

The first conversation was the worker at a booth selling popcorn. As I walked up, I asked, “Do you think they will have popcorn in Heaven?” She said she had no idea. So I followed with who goes to Heaven and then do you think there is a Heaven? In both cases I got a simple answer “don’t know don’t care.” She said she was not interested because it didn’t matter till she died. I asked, “what if it’s too late then.” Again “don’t care.” So we thanked her for her time and walked off.

Second conversation was with a guy demoing a “selfie stick”. So I asked “do you think people will take selfies in Heaven?” He said, “no.” I asked why not. He said, “because when you die you can’t take anything with you.” We had a great conversation and he shared his testimony of how he got saved and participated in a local church with his wife and son.

Third conversation was a man selling watches. Walked up and asked him, “do you think people 2015-07-22 20.12.33will wear watches in Heaven?” He was not sure. So I asked how people get to Heaven. This lead to a long conversation which basically centered on him explaining how good people go to Heaven. I listened for a while and then asked, “if good people go to Heaven, wouldn’t it make sense that God would tell us how good we need to be to get there?” He agreed. But held to his belief. We talked about who determines truth? Could it be determined by popular opinion? Like what if the Supreme Court ruled? Would that make it true? Or is truth true regardless of popular opinion. he agreed that truth is truth regardless. He started talking about how rude some customers of the mall are. Demanding to see certain items. And even damaging his kiosk. Then he said that the mall would fine him if he did not fix the customers damage. I asked how he would feel if I offered to pay the repair. He said it would not be right for me to pay and he would not ask me. I reminded him that he did not ask, but what if I offered. He told us that he is a Muslim. And we built a lot of common ground with these things and even things from the Bible like belief in Moses, the Ten Commandments and that there is a God.

So eventually, I looked him in the eye and said, “here is the difference between Christianity and all other religions.” While religion teaches man to be good to earn favor with God, Christianity is about Christ paying the price for our sin. He went back to his idea of being good. I reiterated our common ground about truth and the payment of our sin.  I told him who Jesus is. Then I pointed ot the red calculator on his counter and said, “you know I realize that what I’m telling you is like if you thought this calculator was yellow and suddenly I am telling you it is red.” I realize this may take some time to sink in.

I gave him a copy of our book The Truth May Impact Your Opinion and he said he would read it. And I told him that I’d stop back next week to see what he thinks of it. So please pray for him!

We had day two of VBS on the road and got to have several conversations with people about the Gospel. On the way home we stopped at WalMart to put some tracts around the store and give to some people. Oh, and my wife picked up a couple things while we were there!

Got to hand out a number of tracts and talk to several people about Jesus today. On my way to work I had to stop by the post office. One the way back out another customer came in, so I handed her a Bucket List tract from the July mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club.

I got off of work early and met my wife for a date! We went to the movies and saw Inside Out. That was fun. At the theater I gave MyCard to three employees working at snack bar. They were all checking to see if they were good enough to go to Heaven. The ticket taker got a Ten Commandments tract. After the movie ended, when I came back out four employees were waiting to clean the theater. Three of them were standing against the wall and one was holding the door. I gave each of the three Camo Cards, Ten Commandments and Are You a Good Person respectively. The third one asked “what is it?” so I told them they are Gospel tracts. When I went to hand one to the guy holding the door he reminded me that he already got one at the snack bar!

After the movie it was off to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. I handed a Get Out of Hell Free card to the host who seated us. After2015-07-16 19.28.05 we sat down and placed our drink order one of the hostesses came over holding the Get Out of Hell Free card. She said, “you gave this to someone when you came in….” Kind of funny is I was thinking, “oh, no”, I am about to get reprimanded for handing out tracts. Then she said, “can I get one too?” I asked if she was a Christian and she said, “kind of”. So I gave her a Get Out of Hell Free Card and then gave her a few other tracts that i had with me.

Then she explained further, “my grandmother is a Jehovah’s Witness, can you tell me the difference between that and Christian?” I told her that the full explanation might take a little while, but I’d summarize. Then I gave her my card and invited her to call me and she and I and my wife could have a longer conversation about it.

I explained to her that Jesus must be God in order to be the perfect sacrifice to pay for the sins of the world. I told her that if he was not God, and was just a man, then he would not be perfect and His payment on the cross would not be sufficient. She nodded in agreement. Then I said, “the difference between Christian and Jehovahs Witness is that the JW deny the Deity of Jesus.” I explained to her that John 1:1 indicates that the word was God and that John 1:14 indicates the Word became flesh. So I said, “from these two verses it is clear that Jesus is God.” Again she nodded in agreement.

I then explained that the problem with the Jehovah’s Witnesses is that they have a translation of the Bible that adds one letter there in John 1:1 which says the word was “a” god. In essence they strip the Deity of Jesus with one letter.

Finally I explained to her that there are many “Jesus’s” and that people call them all the same as if they are both the same. I picked up the salt shaker and my glass of water. I told her, let’s say I tell you these are both water. Then I offer you a drink. Which would you want to drink from? She pointed to the water.  I said, in the same way, it is important to follow the true Jesus!

She thanked me for the conversation. I invited her to email or call and I’d provide her more information.

When we paid the bill I left a Thank You tract for the waitress!

Day 150715: Business Reply

There are literally days like today where I get up in the morning, drive to work, work all day, and drive home. I am not around2015-07-15 21.59.49 anyone that I can hand a tract to. Even on my walk to and from the office, there was not anyone around to talk to or hand a tract to.

But, I had some business reply envelopes that had come in the mail. So I put tracts in four of them, including a Bucket List tract from the July mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club and put them in the mailbox!

Someone will open those envelopes and receive the Gospel!
