I got to go to the store…

Sometimes we might say, “I have to” do this or that. Like I have to go to the store or I have to go to work. But, one of the many things I learned from reading Mark Cahill’s book “One Thing you Can’t do in Heaven” is that when we phase it as “I get to” it makes it much more pleasant.

Well, today, I got to go to the store with my wife. We went first to CostCo and then to Target. It was fun to hang out with her. I got to eat lots of samples. And I got to hand out a number of Gospel tracts “as I went!”

At CostCo nearly everyone I saw got a tract. Starting with the two people checking member cards at the front door all the way to the gal at exit checking receipts. I had a mix of New Year resolution tracts and Super Bowl trivia tracts. It was so easy to simply ask people “are you going to watch the Super Bowl?” They would say yes and I hand them a tract and say “here is some Super Bowl trivia for you.” Each one said thanks. One guy asked me if anyone had said no (they are not watching the Super Bowl). But no one answered no! I must have given out at least 25 tracts in the CostCo both to the employees working the samples and also to the other customers. I even put a few into the packages of bulk drinks!

At Target I gave out several more tracts including to the lady in line in front of us, a woman who was giving samples and the cashier when we checked out.

I’ll get to go to the store with my wife again. And when I do, I’ll bring more tracts. How about you? Why not go to the store with your wife and then comment here with how you handed out tracts while you did!
